is anyone there, i live in the United States. I have a gambling problem and am now being forced to deal with my addiction. For the first time in my life I was served with a summons to appear =before a court that i know well and visit often in my career. I will be extremely humiliated if I will need to go there on my appearance date. I know that most of you will probably relate to what i am experiencing. It is not a good feeling at all. I am a single mom, have been for most of my childrens lives. I have always been responsible…til now that is. I know I will get there again but…now I need help.– 8/2/2010 4:11:25 PM: post edited by krystanley.

Hi krystanley and welcome to the forum.  Im sure you will be reading a lot you will relate to on the other threads here.  You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
Your legal problems will get sorted one way or the other.  You will get past what is happening now, you need to address your gambling though or things will get progressively worse.  What steps can you take?  Well you can get banned from where ever it is you normally gamble.  You can get counselling, attend GA meetings, find a way to limit your access to gambling funds.  Keep posting and let us know what positive steps you are taking.

      Hi Krystanley
I am also a single mum facing this addiction.. it is good that you have come here, you will find some wonderful friends across the globe, there are many things we can do to help ourselves not to gamble.. it takes perserverance but the main thing i would say to you is keep coming back here no matter what, never give up trying! The fact you are here says it all, you have taken a brave first step.. well done.. keep posting and reading, try to carry little cash on you or cards it certainly helps if you have no money to gamble on you.. try to just look at not gambling one day at a time.  Just for today dont gamble, just get through each hour doing something else and remember if you have urges, they will pass.. they dont hang around forever.. eventually they fade and you realize you can get through.. Small steps, keep posting. You are not alone in this, you can have  a gamble free life, it is waiting for you
