Hi i am josh and i have a problem with gambling …
Good evening Josh, my name is Larry (screen name paul315) and I am a Compulsive Gambler, or as you put it, I have a problem with gambling. My last bet was Aug 13, 2009. Welcome to GT, it is a place you can find the help you need to help yourself; for you can only do this for yourself, it takes turning to others and to your Higher Power, but hen it comes down to it, making the choice not to gamble is yours alone. It also helps to know that you have the find the friendship of others that have experienced all the things that you have and have felt all the same hurt and guilt – you are not alone in your trouble.
A start to helping yourself would be to self-exclude from the casinos where you gamble, that is if casinos are your way to gamble; If you gamble online, install a game blocking program. Either way your will be taking an action to stop your gambling. This action of physical banning ***** to be fortified with a mental ban as well; if your mindset is not in tune you will waste your efforts trying to get around the self-banning, efforts that would be better used to combat the triggers that sends you to gamble.
Self banning in Oklahoma with the Reservation casinos will require you to connect each casino separately and forrlw the different procedures for each. When you do go to ban, take a trusted friend of family member with you to lesson any temptation for "one last time", keep your last time as your last time and clean date. Also, take a very limited amount of cash, no credit cards or checks, and don’t take any coupons or other promotional items; go in, ban, and leave.
The above are some thought on how you can help yourself stop, you will find other ways here also, use all you can. Keep coming back and participating in all the forums and chat rooms, take action, do something; recovery will not come to you, you have to go for it.
God’s speed, use your Higher Power to guide and strengthen you.

Hi Josh and welcome to the forum. Im sure you will be reading a lot of things you will relate to on the optehr threads here. You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?
I like your sign off line – "get real". Its a tough addiction and we do have to get real to deal with it. What are you going to do to "get real"?
Get to GA meetings? Get banned from wherever it is you normally gamble? Be honest with those close to you? Find a way to restrict your access to gambling funds?
Kep posting and maybe tell us a little more about your situation. Let us know what positive actions you are taking. -
