Hello everyone,
Recently I read an article on ‘How the brain gets addicted to gambling’ ( https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-brain-gets-addicted-to-gambling/ ). It is really informative. It explains that the genetic predispositions for impulsivity and chasing habit are same for a gambler and a drug addict. The sad fact is people are not ready to seek treatment for such addiction. I think, a proper treatment and therapy can make a great change in the life of a gambler.
Actually, I’m here to get some information about gambling addiction. My husband is spending too much time for gambling. I came to know about this from his colleagues. He is taking off from his office often and borrowing money from his friends for gambling. I don’t know how to deal this problem. When I asked him about this, he shouted at me and that ended up in a fight. He is simply ignoring me, he doesn’t even want to discuss this. We don’t have much savings and I’m really concerned about our future. When I discussed my concerns with my aunt she advised me to get help from any counselor or treatment centers for gambling treatment. I’m planning to do the same and already started searching the best gambling addiction treatment centers in Canada ( https://www.canadadrugrehab.ca/Gambling-Addiction-Treatment.html ). I wonder how to convince him to get treatment. Is there any article which helps to solve my problems? Which is the best way to get rid of gambling addiction? Kindly share your tips and articles. Thank you in advance.

Interesting info. The North American Foundation for Gambling Addiction Help reports that approximately 2.6% of the U.S. population has some type of gambling issue. That adds up to nearly 10 million people in the United States who struggle with a gambling habit. Huge numbers!! https://addictionresource.com/addiction-and-rehab-hotlines/vermont-numbers/ – source of statistics from rehab hotlines.

Hi Gracie, Well done on coming here. You might be in a dark place but I promise you that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Yes fight but don’t fight alon. You arent a lonee with this problem and you don’t ahve to deal with it on your own either.
Check out the My Journal Forum. You will read a lot that you will relate to there. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation.
I hope you start your own thread there, you would get a lot of support. Hopefully see you in one of the groups that we have here soon as well.

Hello everyone,
As someone who has struggled with gambling addiction in the past, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of responsible gambling.
Gambling can be a fun and exciting pastime, but it’s important to remember that it can also be addictive and have serious consequences. I know firsthand the damage that gambling addiction can do, not just to yourself but to your loved ones as well.
If you choose to gamble, it’s crucial to set limits for yourself and stick to them. Only gamble what you can afford to lose, and never chase your losses. If you find yourself struggling with addiction, don’t be afraid to seek help. There are many resources available, including support groups and professional counseling.
Remember, gambling should be a source of entertainment, not a way to make money or escape your problems. Please gamble responsibly and take care of yourselves and those around you.
