Hi Bettie, well dopne on your foirst year in recovery. Theres no rigth or wrong number of meetings to get to really, as long as we get to meetings obviously! Keep that balance right, a day at a time.
colin in brumParticipantOne of the beneits of not gamlbing is having that cash available when things like the car need repairing. Don’t overdo the work Kathryn, have a good weekend
colin in brumParticipantHi Bettie, well done on being honest with your sister. It sounds like that will help. I like your post about your kitchen, it pretty well sums up how gambling can take over things without us noticing.
colin in brumParticipantHi Kathryn a belated happy birthday from me. Well done on not gambling in a very tempting situation. I hope that you havve learnt from this andif the situation repesated then you would veto the venue and go somewhere else. Apart from anything else as you have found it stopped you from enjoying the occasion fully anyway.
If your friend is really a friend then they will be more than happy to go elsewhere. Especially asd they know of the situation.
I hope you enjoyed the rest of your birthday.
colin in brumParticipantWell done on your year Michael, a day at a time can achieve great things
colin in brumParticipantHi Grace and welcome back. This addiction can be addressed in the same way you address the alcoholism – one day at a time. Keep up your AA meetings and keep postoing here. Can you get to GA as well? Remember that it is important to keep using support to maintain recovery, not just to stop when we are in trouble. KEEP posting.
colin in brumParticipantHi Sad and welcome to the forum. Im sure you will be reading as lot you will relate to on the other threads here. You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can do?
Get yourself nanned from where ever it is you normally gamble, find a way to restrict your access to gambling funds, maybe family can help with this? Keep posting and let us know what positive steps you are taking.colin in brumParticipantHi and welcome to the forum. Good to see you have started taking these positive steps. keep posting
colin in brumParticipantGREAT steps P, well done.
colin in brumParticipantHi Mai and welcome. It was good to chat to you in group and great to now see you posting. Well done on the steps you ahve already taken. keep posting.
colin in brumParticipantWTG Mai!
Продължавайте да публикувате и ни уведомете какви положителни действия предприемате.colin in brumParticipantHi and welcoem to the forum. Im sure you will be reading a lot you will relate to on the other threads here. You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation? You can get a blocker for your PC which will stop your visiting ANY gambling site on it. Betfilter.com is one though there are others. Maybe connect to the helpline they have here.
There are plenty of GA meetings in Scotland as well so that would also be a good option for you.
Itll help if you do have the courage to tell your fiancee, don’t just present the problem though. Show her what you are going to do to DEAL with the problem as well. Things like installing the blocker, getting to GA etc She could also help by holding the finances etc as well so that you are accountable. Keep posting and let us know what positive actions you are taking.colin in brumParticipant***** and welcome to the forum, Im sure you will be reading a lot you will relate to on the other threads here. You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can aply to your own situation? Being honest with your parents would help, then you can show them by your ACTIONS how much you want to stop gambling. Actions like getting to GA meetings, like asking them to make you accountable for spending etc Like getting excluded from where ever it is you normally gamble. Keep posting and let us know what positive actions you are taking.
colin in brumParticipantOr, on a lighter note, trying to be happy all the time won’t solve all your problems but it’ll **** off enough people to make it worth the effort.
