    Hey Sosad
In many situations I do find it better that CG’s dont read their partners posts. There are lots of reasons why that really im not going into. After spending so long talking to you its become clear that you have many qualities shared by so many others but you also have a very different situation to many others. Distance and that alters the whole dimension of your recovery.
When you write on here Im positive there is nothing but 100% truth about how you feel, how his actions make you feel, how the distance makes trust & truth become gray.
For me personally I love your posts and everything ive read has never contained any malicious or manipulating situations.. just facts and truth as you percieve them.
You wrote "I told him about this site so he could read, so now I feel like I can’t write 100% freely. Part of me thinks I probably shouldn’t care, that I should just use this for me no matter what, if he reads and doens’t like it, oh well"
Sosad you should write freely its a human given, sure of your going to use it as a way of attacking then no, but thats not you. What helped me the most and Im I wont write it here was seeing the face of one person, someone I never meant to hurt but you havent got the ability for him to see you at your low points. Maybe the truth will allow him to see the consequencies of his actions and take full ownership of this addiction….maybe thats what he trully ***** to hear.

Hi Badapple, A Warm Welcome to Gambling Therapy
I’m in total agreement, free gambling can cause as much damage as gambling. In cases ive seen over the years those whom chose to play free games rarely make recovery easy and those whom are in recovery and start playing free games have been known to return to gambling. To an extent gambling and gaming addiction have the same negative traits.. the only difference is gaming is free once the game is purchased

    Hi Baker
Ive moved your thread here to allow replies etc.
In short there isn’t any software available to block gambling websites on mobile phones, some companies say they have come up with apps .
There is an app that may seem useful but on trying this I found all it did was remove safari, replaced it with another browser that didn’t accept gambling, but it also blocked lots of other sites at the same time. It also didn’t work on apps either,it took 5 mins to reinstall safari and delete the other browser so I’d say a complete waste of time and money.
Betfilter have been looking into this for the last year or so, but as yet nothing has arisen. What I’ve just discovered is an article from Net Nanny whom already produce a solution for Macs and say they are close to an Ipad / Iphone solution
But the good news in the meantime. Most phone providers will adhere to parental control restrictions, what I have advised and know has worked is for a request to be made to your provider asking for parental control to be instated. This is best done by a partner and the emphasis must be placed on NOT having the restriction lifted
This blocks anything unsuitable for under 18’s which includes gambling.
    Hope this helps

Steve, I’ve known you personally for nearly 7 years. I’d like to ask you two questions

    Hey Larry
Larry as every day passes in my recovery i’m surrounded by others whose paths are similar to mine or completely different to mine. The question is, what is recovery? Sure the majority know the difference between recovery based on a solid ground and recovery based on abstinence and will power.
Larry I want to ask you a question.. in your words " But this time I went to gamble, I planned to gamble, I did not find myself in a situation that I did not plan and had no desire to reach out"
You mention complacency but complacency and planning do not work together, Last time you rang Bettie this time you didn’t so again I can’t see complacency I see something triggered you, But what? and that’s something only you can answer and something only you can work on to get through the future
Larry what was happening for you when you planned this trip, what had been happening for you the day week or even weeks & possibly months before this trip?  some things we cannot put on forums and that’s understandable, but I’d urge you to take a look back and find the truth behind this lapse pop onto the helpline and talk to us.
Larry the most concerning part for me is this. You’ve altered your signature, Why ?  Your signature said "Thanks to my Higher Power, My 3G’s – God, GA, and GT, "Day Two Is Another Day Behind", another year behind, and with the help from all , I hope to continue to remain gambling free. But you’ve altered it to " Day Behind", another year behind"
Recovery isn’t about gambling, it’s about our thoughts, behaviours & characteristics that we that we learn to challenge & you have challenged these on a daily basis, this has created new rules that you apply to your existence and these rules by nature have the effect that gambling doesn’t hold a place in your life. Larry you in my opinion have missed something, But I do not and I will not accept that you have to believe that this error is a means to diminish the challenges work and commitment you’ve shown to yourself and those around you. I will not believe that any serious damage has been caused. What I do believe is that you have shown that you’re human you’re a compulsive gambler and as such things may happen. Your recovery if anything will become stronger. The truth is simple in my eyes. You are an example to many in true recovery, you had a choice say nothing or be honest.. you made that decision quickly and firmly laying open your recovery life for all to read. That’s courageous for a man of principle like yourself, you’re showing what I see as pure strength and not weakness neither if these are signs of a damaged recovery if anything its showing that you are stronger than the man you were.
I’m proud to have you as part of this community, I’ve admired your recovery from the time we met and I’ll admire it still.
All I ask now is you be honest about the "Why"

    Hi Adam
Firstly well done for making a gallant attempt at excluding yourself from the online gambling sites; the biggest issue is there are so many online sites and more licences being given on a frequent basis, UK based or not they are accessible
Personally Id advise installing blocking software, this can be downloaded from https://www.betfilter.com if you insert the discount code BET3E606 this will give you an addition licence.
This post explains a little more about it https://www.gettogethablog.com/en-GB/ShowThread.aspx?ID=594304

Hey Marlene, It’s great that you found the courage to post. Im sure no one from GA will take offence at your question.
It’s a hard question to answer almost impossible. I have many friends who live a life of recovery purely down to GA, some 16 years and some 30 years clean.. It can & does work
For me, I went to GA and it wasn’t enough, As you maybe aware I went into rehab which has proved its worth.
The only person that can really say GA is enough is someone who embraces GA, if however there are issues that GA cannot deal with then there is counselling available, a Mix of GA & Counselling is a powerful tool
But the only person that can truly answer this is the gambler themselves, we know in our hearts if we need more, we know if we are trully commited.. no one can say it for us
Take Care & please keep posting
