Hi there, new here, abit about me, I started gambling when I was around 23 for at least 4 years, it all started due to a friendship breakdown, I’m sure that wasn’t the only reason but definitely a catalyst, I think it was a way for me to cope with change anyway 4 years later I had enough, I never had any money, I was always stressed out, unable to go to social events, all my money just went on gambling basically, so 4 years later I signed up to GameStop and I’ve banned myself from all U.K. licenced online casinos, so I had stopped for 3 years, until about 5 months ago, I had signed up to online casinos that are not part of GameStop and as a result I have landed myself in alot of debt due to my recklessness. I can go days with not deposited anything mainly because I don’t have the money but as soon as I do it goes straight in these sites. I have been closing all my accounts but I seem to manage to find new ones, although hopefully I have nearly ran out of sites to block myself from. I just wanted to share my story and if anyone has any tips or words of advise, would be greatly appreciated

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
And on that note….
I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you ??
Take care

Hi Kellie,
It’s been a few days since you’ve posted. How are you doing?
You went 3 years, this is but a small blip in your radar. Chin up, you know you can do this.

Hey Iamhere, I’m ok thanks, so I deposited £35 yesterday, kicking myself abit but payday today and I am determined that I won’t be depositing anything. Its ironic really as when I last quit it was during lockdown when there was literally nothing to do other than gamble ?? I know I can do this, I somewhat know the triggers, it usually rears its ugly head when something unexpected happens in my life, I hate change more so when it’s out of the blue and out of my control. But I do come on here often and read other peoples stories and that does seem to help me, so whenever I get the urge I will come on here! Hope your doing ok too!

Hi!
I hope you made it through the day not spenind any of your pay cheque gambling! We all know we won’t withdrawal even if we won money!
Have you ever gone to the reddit forums? There are a gazillion people on there posting daily. I read those stories on and off. I found some success stories which were encouraging. This forum seems to be busy then quiet..
Any plans for the weekend?
