Ok, imagine a piano, someone playing a nice tune, the keys sounding out their melody….. nice. Now a harp joins in, lovely, now a fute, then a bass, then a trumpet, soon the whole orchestra. Fantastic.
I heard that in an advert, For a car of some kind, talking about it’s engine. It occured to me that it was also a good analogy for recovery. Put a barrier in place,…… well done. Be honest, work on character traits, find other thigns to fill time away from gambling, choose healthy options, work on self improvement… brilliant.
Stopping gambling is stopping gambling. Recovery is working towards the whole orchestra, one day at a time.
Hi Charles . I checked over chat and think u have made a wise decision – will miss u of course on Friday nights but life balance is important !
or a football team , you need 11 players , your in midfield you lose the ball , your centre half gets it but inadvertently passes to the opposing striker who shoots only for your keeper to save well. Lots of barriers and team mates to help you through the game.
Thanks for sharing your analogy Charles! Makes sense. We need to keep working at it too, practicing, as any decent orchestra does. Have a good weekend Charles! Laura
