Hi all
Just registered here. I just want to share my own story and look for some help advices. Right now I’m weary and tired.
Are there any chances i could recover from my gambling addiction ?
I’ve been trying to stay abstinent for first 90 days for 3, 4 times. It only lasted till 70, or so. I fell down and relapsed.
I feel hopless and see no way to overcome my addiction
I got debts paid off by the help of my family. My family was really shocked how i got in trouble like this.
I dont wanna break their heart anymore, I’m getting married soon too -

Why do you see no way to overcome your addiction? Tell me more about yourself so I understand the problem more.

I’ve been gambling for 4 years now. sure thing it’s gotten worse every year. I got hooked up on gambling when I was jobless, didnt know how dangerous, just playing for fun: baccarat, poker, lottery. Then i got job and started playing more and more till I took out loan from the banks to cover and chase my loss. In September, I declared bankruptcy.
I managed to stop 3 times this year by will power, and 12 step program, I dont have GA group around me. Eachtime i last about 70s day before I relapse.
I am still going to work but i still hate myself.
I just need a new way to maintain sobriety and abstient, thank you for listening -

Hi addictedbrain and well done on looking for help. Are there any chances? yes every chance. Though of course we have more likelihood of success if we don’t leave it to chance.
You keep getting to 70 days or so on your own? Well done. Now though you have support here, you can be stronger still.
Read the other stories here, you will see the sort of thing that has helped others stop gambling.
This time when you get to that 70 day mark you will still be posting here, importantly your family or future wife can be helping you with barriers, they will be helping you limit your access to cash so that you CAN’T gamble undetected. Between now and then you will have got yourself banned/blocked from whereever it is that you usually gamble.
Keep posting and let us know what positive steps you are taking.

Hi I’m new and I was happy with my ex for 11years , until he started gambling 4years ago, I tried to be supportive , but in the end we weren’t even sleeping together , living separate lives , and he left me , and had already met a new girlfriend before he left , although 6weeks after he came and asked for help as he had wated another 10 thousand and didn’t no which way to turn , I feel so devastated that I pushed him into the arms of another and feel I tried so hard to help him and he’s left and is happy with new woman and I’m alone and still love and worry about hum , it’s driving me crazy , help xx

Is there anyway you can concede control of your finances to a close friend or family member? That might help to get you over the hump.
