      Hi,

I am 21 years old and a gambling addict. Debt of more than $5000 USD. Living in a third world country that’s a huge amount. I don’t have a job. I don’t have a degree. I barely have money left for food. I’m living at my aunt’s house because I can’t afford to get my own apartment.

Gambling has taken away my life. I always told myself that if I won what I lose, I would stop gambling. That never happened. Now I am in a serious mess and thinking about ending my life. I do not know what else to do. My family abandoned me already and I only have my friends to talk to about this but since they have their own problems themselves, I can’t really ask them for help anymore.

What do you suggest I do? I want to work outside but I just don’t have money to wait another month for a salary. I feel like it’s too late. I want to hear what you guys can suggest. I am really, really desperate.

I recently turned 22 and have a track record totalling a 5-digit loss (didn’t keep track), still in debt ~1k to my close friends who havent forsaken me even after knowing i have a compulsive gambling habit.

After losing another 1.2k tonight, I’m back on this forum trying to console myself but this time I’m actually going to put in the effort to never ever place another bet again.

We’re the degens who have spun out of control way too early in life. I’ve always told myself that at least I don’t have the additional stress of having to support a family while i push through this disease of sorts but that’s just a pitiful excuse.

I’ve lost a family member to suicide, completely unrelated to gambling, but I have experienced first-hand the wake that it leaves behind. Your burden is passed down to your family and friends, albeit in a different form.

I know little about your situation, but I know that suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems. Life is long, look up and around at the amazing world we could live in gambling-free. I hope that someone on this forum is able to give you sound advice and a solution that you can use, it’s never ever too late.

Hello rdlac and welcome to the site. Well done on looking for help.

You are not alone with this problem; read the other stories here and you will see a lot that you will relate to. You will also see the success stories – what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?

Speak to your aunt, speak to your friends. They might have heard all about your problems before but this time you can show them what you are going to do to help solve the problem. The system is showing me that youa re in Russia? When you do have money who can hold it for you so that you can’t gamble it? Where do you normally gamble? Is it somewhere that you can get benned from?

You can stop gambling I promise you. there is a lot of life after we stop gambling. Keep posting.

Just reading your story and wondering how you are doing. I have a son who is 27 going through a lot of issues right now too along with myself too. We are just barely getting by because of our gambling but still hopeful and he has a lot more time to recover than I do and so do you. You have youth on your side.
